How Coaching Advances You Professionally and Personally

Focused, professional development isn’t always easy to come by, even if you have a strong leader who mentors you along the way.

So how do you get the guidance you need to grow your career, build your confidence and pursue your purpose? Enter a professional coach.

AccessHR’s new coaching practice is available to all professionals at all levels of their career, with a focus on HR professionals and people leaders. It follows a solution-focused coaching model that uses questions, exercises and accountability to help clients tap into their own resources to find solutions.

The practice will draw upon the expert knowledge and rich experience possessed by AccessHR to provide in-depth understanding of the issues and challenges faced by HR professionals.

“HR professionals are in a unique position of seeing many different aspects and departments of organizations,” says AccessHR Principal Janice MacPherson, an ICF-certified coach (ACC).

We often have insights into certain motivations and different ways people work simply from observing a wide variety of teams within a company.”

What is Coaching?

What is coaching, exactly? According to global coach training firm Erickson International, “coaching is a creative partnership with your client aimed to design and implement specific, meaningful changes in your client’s personal and professional life.”

But MacPherson says it’s also helpful to outline what coaching is not.

“Despite popular thought, coaching is not therapy, consulting, advice-giving or mentoring. I sometimes end up doing those things for clients throughout the course of our relationship, but that’s not the true intention of coaching,” she says.

“The intention of the coaching process is to help clients find their own answers through what they already know. It’s also to shift their thinking, bring them to solutions that work for them, and guide them to realize the strengths and abilities they bring to their work.”

AccessHR’s coaching program is available to anyone who wants to work one-on-one with a professional coach. It’s offered virtually in six- or twelve-month packages and explores everything from leadership development and developing self-awareness for career progression to moving through change with resilience, removing limiting beliefs, and reconnecting with purpose.

Clients will also be able to take advantage of  the EQi 2.0 Emotional Intelligence assessment tool, which helps access EQ, the ability to identify and manage your emotions, as well as the emotions of others – a powerful leadership skillset that can be applied to all areas of your life.
